A Community Spotlight for Rhoose Lifeguards Club

This Week, we’re reflecting on the importance of community – how even small acts of support can help build spaces where people feel connected and valued. According to Welsh Government, individuals who participate in sports have a lower mental well-being score in comparison to those who do not participate in sport, this statistic alone represents the importance of Sport and the community it brings to mental well-being. There is a strong relationship between loneliness and well-being, and clubs such as Rhoose Lifeguards Club provide a great opportunity to minimise loneliness, and create community, friendships, and relationships.

Recently, CCR Energy donated some second-hand sofas and tables to the Rhoose Lifeguards clubhouse, a local volunteer-run organisation doing brilliant work on our coastline. The furniture is being used in their communal area, providing a comfortable spot for lifeguards and volunteers to relax, chat, and unwind between shifts and training sessions. With over 200 members, the furniture will certainly be put to good use.

The team at Rhoose Lifeguards not only help keep our beaches safe but provide a positive environment for young people to develop skills, confidence, and friendships. We’re glad we could offer a small contribution to a group that gives so much back to the local community.

Mental health and wellbeing are closely linked to feeling supported and included and the work happening at Rhoose Lifeguards embodies that spirit every day.
