Community Garden Thrives with New Greenhouse
As part of their ongoing support to the community, its wellbeing, and social value, CCR Energy’s demolition contractor, Erith, has funded the installation of a greenhouse for a community garden in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan. This is a garden for local residents, encouraging them to grow fresh, natural produce, with support from ongoing sustainability projects.
The new addition will enable residents to grow fresh produce all year round, promoting sustainable living and helping to strengthen local food security during the colder months.
Senior Project Manager, Tony Challis, and Quantity Surveyor Apprentice, Rhys Powell, visited the garden to see the project firsthand and to meet with Mark Ellis, the Vale of Glamorgan’s Community Investment Manager.
Mark expressed his gratitude for the team’s ongoing involvement:
“It’s fantastic to have a committed company like Erith who are always happy to support our community and leave a positive impact.”
Building on Previous Success
This initiative follows earlier efforts at Hathaway Place, where Erith installed planters to help residents launch their community garden project.
One resident shared their appreciation:
“We are all very grateful for the support from Erith. The young people of the estate are looking forward to the start of the community garden project.”
A Growing Legacy
From planters to a new greenhouse, Erith continues to make a tangible difference through environmental responsibility and community engagement.
