Following the UK2070 Commission visiting CCR Energy at the former Aberthaw power station, we were introduced to Bambili Energy, a South African company working at the forefront of clean energy transition.
We know that collaboration is integral to delivering our ambitious plans for the Aberthaw site and our work with UK2070 Commission is a testament to that as we have been able to connect with organisations that share our commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Professor Michael Henson, UK2070 Commissioner and Chair, UK2070 Taskforce Programme, said: “The UK2070 Taskforce is committed to fostering international collaboration that drives innovation and inclusive growth. These early conversations with Bambili Energy highlight the importance of connecting regions and organisations that share a vision for a sustainable, net zero future.”
While this was an exploratory conversation, it focused on getting to know each other’s work and exploring areas where there might be scope for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the future.
As our Business and Governance Lead, Jack Harrison, reflected:
“It’s encouraging to see conversations beginning with like-minded organisations overseas. Sharing perspectives helps us think differently about our role in building a net zero future.”
Zanele Mavuso Mbatha from Bambili Energy shared a similar view: “We welcome the dialogue with CCR Energy. Exchanging knowledge across regions is a powerful way to broaden understanding and spark ideas that could shape the clean energy transition.”
We will continue to work closely with the UK2070 Commission and organisations like Bambili Energy to ensure that these global connections:
- Broaden our perspectives
- Strengthen CCR Energy’s international profile
- Support our region’s net zero ambitions
