Engaging with the community in the Vale of Glamorgan
CCR Energy was delighted to attend this year’s Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show, joining local businesses, organisations and communities for one of the highlights of the Vale’s annual calendar.
The event provided a fantastic opportunity for the CCR Energy team to meet people from across the Vale, talk about the transformation of Aberthaw Power Station, and share more about the exciting plans for the future of the site.
Community engagement continues to play an important role in the transformation of Aberthaw, and the Vale Show gave us the opportunity to have conversations with locals, answer their questions, and hear their thoughts about the project.
Pressing the Button at the Vale Show
At the Vale of Glamorgan Agricultural Show, our team took the campaign directly into the community, capturing videos with visitors who wanted to be part of Aberthaw’s history. Participants were filmed pressing the button, with their videos set to feature in the final demolition film – documenting this important moment in the site’s transformation.
The button also caught the attention of the site’s local residents, former power station employees and the families of those who worked at Aberthaw. Our team really enjoyed hearing the different stories and connections to the site that were shared with us throughout the day.
It was fantastic to see people getting involved and to capture contributions from the community as Aberthaw moves from its industrial past towards an exciting new future.
Connecting with local businesses and communities
The Show was also a valuable opportunity to meet and network with local businesses and organisations from across the Vale.
As the transformation of Aberthaw progresses, building strong relationships locally remains incredibly important to CCR Energy. Events such as the Vale Show give our team the chance to engage with the community, listen to local perspectives and build connections with the businesses and organisations that make the Vale such a vibrant place.
There was plenty to enjoy throughout the day too, including the spectacular Red Devils parachute display, which was a real highlight for visitors and the CCR Energy team alike.
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to speak to us, shared their memories of Aberthaw or simply came over to say hello.
We look forward to continuing the conversation with our local communities as the transformation of Aberthaw progresses.
