Business Networking in Ace2

CCR Energy’s Ace2 building provides a unique space for business events, conferences and seminars. Over the last three months, we have been fortunate enough to have worked with Rees Worx who have hosted three events in our building, providing a business networking experience and platform for Vale of Glamorgan companies. The UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund helped enable these events to take place, assisting Vale businesses to form and enhance new relationships.

Rees Worx are a consulting organisation who work to improve services in Business Development, Marketing, and Communications, in a vast range of sectors. They aim to provide links for customers to energetic and forward-thinking businesses, who seek to increase their workforce and grow their organisation. In a relatively small county like the Vale of Glamorgan, companies like Rees Worx are incredibly valuable to improve how communities work together to promote, or create, a prosperous area where local businesses assist each other to be as successful as possible.

Rees Worx held events in Ace2 on September 18th and 20th, and November 14th, and provided a unique opportunity for Vale businesses to network and learn about the significant range of industries that the county has to offer. Over 100 businesses attended the events in total, which hopefully would equate to hundreds of networks and links formed not only in the Vale of Glamorgan, but nationwide also.

Upon reflecting on the events, David Clements, of Rees Worx, said “The recent Business Networking Events held at Aberthaw provided an excellent opportunity to engage with businesses within the Vale of Glamorgan. These events facilitated meaningful connections and discussions regarding the plans for Aberthaw and potential collaborations.

Having both businesses and, in some cases, residents present to hear about the planned developments at Aberthaw was truly exciting. The prospects for regional growth and the potential to create high-paying jobs are particularly promising. We eagerly anticipate observing the progress of these plans.”

We used local caterers for these events, including Willmore’s (1938) and Lunch at Twelve, who provided delicious food for all attendees and organisers.

CCR Energy were fortunate to network with a range of businesses, most notably with Budding Designs Flower Studio, who we collaborated with to create a live moss display. The live moss display sits indoors as the entrance to the Ace2 building, acting as a transportable beacon for sustainability and CCR Energy.

Nicola Hopkins, of Budding Designs Flower Studio said, “We thoroughly enjoyed the CCR networking event at Aberthaw Power Station, it was a real insight into the programme of demolition of the existing power station and a great presentation on the energy options and environmental impact for the new facility.  We were grateful for the opportunity to hear what will become of the iconic site.

A well organised event and an opportunity to meet other local businesses and see some familiar faces.  The CCR staff were incredibly welcoming and approachable, we were thrilled when approached to create some logo natural moss letters for a CCR conference. We are looking forward to seeing what comes next at Aberthaw.”

We have thoroughly enjoyed the ongoing work that we do with Rees Worx, and the new relationships that we have made with local businesses such as Budding Designs Flower Studio, and look forward to developing and creating more long lasting relationships.
