The mission to build a sustainable future powered by a pioneering low carbon destination takes the CCR Energy team to many different places.
Early May saw our voyage of discovery take us on a fact-find to Coal Creek Power Station in North Dakota, to see how they’re transforming from being a fossil fuel giant.
And later in the month, we headed to Leeds, to UKREiiF, where we unveiled our wider ambitions – and a unique range of opportunities to invest in energy generation, energy storage, energy use and advanced manufacturing – at the UK’s leading event for Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure.
Building a unique low carbon destination
UKREiiF gave platform to our huge ambition – showing how we’re creating a Low Carbon Destination that will ignite a brighter tomorrow, built upon the pillars of clean growth, low carbon energy, and cutting-edge industry 4.0 innovation.
It’s a journey that is already seeing us repurpose 18 million tonnes of our own PFA, at CCR Energy Aberthaw – and from the Western Gateway stand in Pavilion 2 of the stunning Royal Armouries, we were able to showcase our wider Masterplan for Aberthaw’s unique 500 acre brownfield site.
That plan offers exceptional opportunities to invest in 300 developable acres, with decarbonisation threaded through every ground-breaking activity – in a ‘joined-up’ location that could include everything from a centre for sustainable energy production such as tidal power or small modular reactors … to a hub creating green hydrogen and zero carbon fuels … a home for giga factories and battery storage for advanced manufacturing … an energy research centre for continual innovation … a biodiverse ecology park for everyone to enjoy … and even a destination hotel and leisure complex.
The feedback given and contacts made at UKREiiF have been incredibly encouraging – and fuelled even further our commitment to helping create a cleaner and greener tomorrow, for our region and the wider world.
